Well, a lot has happened since my last post. And, there have been many incidents which I have wanted to share. Unfortunately, I haven't found the time. Of course, to me, worse than not sharing them is the simple fact that they did not get documented and my overworked mind can no longer remember those funny little things.
However, the point of today's post is a little more bragging on Quinn. Something that definitely made this mommy swell with pride.
Just yesterday, I FINALLY opened Quinn's backpack for the first time since he got out of school (May 20). I guess I just didn't think there would be anything in there, as they had brought home all of their supplies the day before. I also assumed grade cards would then be mailed.
Well, I was wrong. Upon opening his bag, I found his yearbook. (Which I must say, I did have the cutest kid in all of their Kindergarten classes.) There was a very nice "Thank you" card from his teacher, thank me for all of my help with field trips, class parties, etc. There was also next years school schedule, all of the information for early enrollment for next year, his school supply list for 1st grade, finally both his 4th quarter report card and his 4th quarter highlights sheet.
The highlights sheet is something we received with each report card. It showed the things they were supposed to know before moving on to First grade. It includes things like their reading level, how many upper and lower case letters they can both recognize and write, their address and phone number, "sight" words, and much more.
And.......now for the bragging. Quinn's report card showed ALL E's and +'s. Excellent work, son! But, the most impressive thing for this mommy is truly amazing, at least I think so. :)
The Kindergarten classes is first assessed with a "pre-primer" level in reading. Which is basically recognizing letters and such. The goal for Kindergarten is to be on a level 4 reading before moving on to First grade. (Pre-primer, level 1, level 2, etc.) On the highlights sheet, it states:
"Our goal is level 4 by the end of kindergarten. Your child is reading on a level 15." That's right a level FIFTEEN! He is one amazing kiddo!
